DHA SBIR/STTR Three Phase Process
SBIR/STTR Programs conducts a project, if successful, through three phases.
Phase I supports early-stage feasibility research and development to de-risk an innovation before prototype development. In this phase, awards of $300,000 are provided for a 6-month period.
Phase II is a continuation of the Phase I effort to support prototype development, testing, and validation. DHA issues special Direct to Phase II topics where Phase I de-risking may no longer be necessary in a given technology area. DHA SBIR/STTR Phase II efforts can be awarded up to a maximum of $1.4 million for a 24-month period.
Phase III refers to work that derives from, extends, or completes a prior SBIR/STTR effort but is furnished by non-SBIR/STTR funds (Government or industry). No funding or ceiling limits apply.
DHA SBIR/STTR Funding Opportunities
SBIR/STTR supports the DHA’s Combat Support Agency mission. Topics are aligned with DHA Science & Technology Strategic Research Plans and service requirements. DHA topics offer a unique opportunity to provide advanced medical materiel support to enhance survivability and operational effectiveness.
