Fertility Awareness-based Methods

Understand Your Fertility. Plan With Confidence.

Your body provides signs that can help you better understand your fertility window.

  • Fertility Awareness-Based Methods teach patients how to recognize and track these signs.
  • DHA's Fertility Awareness-Based Methods Virtual Health Hub provides education and virtual counseling to patients around the world.

These methods involve learning to observe and track physical signs associated with fertility. Depending on the method, this may involve tracking changes such as:

  • Menstrual timing
  • Ovulation timing
  • Cervical fluid
  • Body temperature
  • Other fertility signs

The goal is to better understand when pregnancy is more or less likely during the fertility window.

Fertility awareness can help you:

  • Understand your reproductive health
  • Identify your most fertile days
  • Plan for pregnancy
  • Support family-planning decisions
  • Better recognize changes in your fertility patterns

You don't have to figure this out by yourself. The DHA Fertility Awareness-Based Methods Virtual Health Hub provides reliable education and virtual counseling.

  • Talk with your healthcare provider about your fertility goals and whether FABM may be right for you.
  • If appropriate, your provider will initiate a referral to the FABM Virtual Health Hub.
  • The hub will then reach out to you directly to schedule your virtual counseling appointment.
  • All specialized FABM counseling and follow-up care is provided through a secure telehealth platform, caring for you wherever you are located.

Fertility, Family Planning & Hormone Health

Your Health Is Connected.

Hormone health, sexual health and fertility often overlap.

Understanding those connections can help you make more informed decisions—particularly before beginning a treatment that could affect reproductive function.

Talk with your provider about changes such as:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual cycles
  • Fertility concerns
  • Symptoms of perimenopause
  • Sexual health concerns
  • Changes associated with intense training or inadequate fueling

Menstrual changes can have many possible explanations. They should not automatically be attributed to training, menopause or a hormone problem without appropriate evaluation.

Talk with your provider about:

  • Fertility concerns
  • Changes in sexual function
  • Possible testosterone deficiency
  • Testosterone treatment
  • Use of testosterone or anabolic steroids
  • Future family-building goals

If you may want biological children in the future, discuss that before beginning testosterone therapy, because exogenous testosterone can suppress sperm production.

Infertility can involve either partner, and there are many possible causes.

TRICARE covers certain services needed to diagnose and treat underlying causes of infertility, although coverage for assisted reproductive technology differs from coverage for infertility evaluation and treatment.
