The Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence holds monthly live webinar sessions that target clinicians who work with amputation or limb trauma care. The Limb Trauma Educational Series is an educational platform for information-sharing from experts to the multi-disciplinary team that treats patients with an extremity trauma. Monthly sessions are aimed to bring new material, case studies, and best practices into the clinical setting in order to provide exceptional care to the limb trauma and limb loss population. The LTES strives to improve outcomes by reducing variations in processes of care and sharing of best practices and expertise.

December's session topic, Beyond the Bench: Lessons from a Randomized Trial of Preventive Screening in Prosthetic Practice, will be presented by Samantha Stauffer, MSOP, CPO. This session will highlight the value of screening in prosthetic clinical practice, with an emphasis on common life-limiting comorbidities, e.g., peripheral neuropathy, major depression, and suicidal ideation. We will discuss lessons learned from our pilot randomized clinical trial.
