Lapse in Federal Appropriations

The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status. Visit www.dha.mil/shutdown for more information. 

The Ebola epidemic that began in West Africa in late 2013 cause more than 11,000 deaths. It was ended through the efforts of local health care workers, such as the one shown, and a massive response by organizations such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Dr. Mike Bray, an Army medic in Viet Nam and former virus researcher at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, will discuss Ebola virus disease, the history of outbreaks and the progress made in the past 10 years in developing approved vaccines and treatments.
