Mr. Andre R. Pippen is a native of Alabama graduating from the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1991 as an ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.
His first tour of duty after commissioning was as a medical platoon leader assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division (Light), in Fort Ord, California. In January 1993, he served as the Combat Health Support, 7th Forward Support Battalion, Division Support Command, 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California. In June 1993, he was transferred to the 18th Medical Command, Camp Red Cloud, Republic of Korea, serving as executive officer for Alpha Company, 168th Area Support Medical Battalion.
A year later he attended the Medical Logistics Management Course and Combined Logistics Officers Advanced Course before moving to Joint Task Force-Bravo, Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, for six months serving as Chief of Logistics, Medical Element, followed by duties as Division Medical Logistics Officer and then Forward Support Medical Company Commander with Division Support Command, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In November 1997, he was assigned to Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana, serving as Senior Medical Platoon and Senior Medical Company Observer/Controller.
In January 2000, he attended the Medical Materiel Management Course and upon completion was assigned to United States Army Medical Materiel Agency, Fort Detrick, Maryland, as Chief, Plans Branch and then Chief, Plans and Operations Division. In July 2003, he was assigned to the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., where he served as a Logistics Staff Officer and Deputy 70K Consultant in the Department of the Army’s Surgeon General’s Office. In May 2006, he was transferred to U.S. Central Command’s U.S. Military Training Mission, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a Joint Medical Advisor to the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces. In June 2008, he was reassigned to USAMMA at Fort Detrick, Maryland, as Director, Force Projection Directorate, before being transferred to serve as the Chief, Current Operations with the 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
He also deployed to Iraq as chief, U.S. Forces-Iraq, before assuming command in June 2011 of the 188th Brigade Support Battalion, 18th Fires Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg, NC. In July 2013, he first served as S-4, 30th Medical Brigade, and then as Assistant Chief of Staff, Logistics, Regional Health Command-Europe, Sembach, Germany. He served as Commander, BG Crawford F. Sams U.S. Army Health & MEDDAC-Japan; U.S. Army-Japan Command Surgeon and Director Health Services from June 15, 2016, to June 7, 2018. He served as Chief of Staff, Regional Health Command Europe from June 2018 to June 2021. He also served as the Lead Systems Technical Representative, Army Medical Logistics Command, CECOM, Kleber Kaserne, Germany from April 24, 2022, to August 12, 2022.
He served as the Chief, Operations Branch in Defense Health Agency-Europe/ Defense Health Network, Europe in Sembach, Germany from 15 August 2022 to 27 January 2025. He assumed his present position on January 27, 2025. Mr. Pippen holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College. His various awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1 oak leaf cluster), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Meritorious Unit Award as well as Expert Field Medical Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Army Staff Identification Badge.
