Scientist at the JPC

Joint Pathology Center

The JPC serves as the premier pathology reference center for the federal government, offering cost-effective, high-quality, multidisciplinary pathology consultation and education services. It also manages the National Pathology Tissue Repository, the nation’s oldest and most extensive tissue repository, to promote biomedical research. The JPC supports the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies, collaborating with both U.S. and international academic and scientific institutions to advance pathology research and education.

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is the Department of Defense’s sole Cancer Center of Excellence, providing comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care to military beneficiaries. With a multidisciplinary team of board-certified oncologists and specialized clinical staff, the center offers services from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship. Murtha Cancer Center integrates cutting-edge research and clinical trials to enhance cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for service members and their families

National Intrepid Center of Excellence

NICoE, located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, is the headquarters of the Defense Intrepid Network for Traumatic Brain Injury and Brain Health. This network includes 10 Intrepid Spirit Centers located at military bases across the United States, as well as two traumatic brain injury clinics in Alaska and Germany. NICoE is dedicated to advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and research of traumatic brain injury and associated health conditions, providing comprehensive care and support to service members and their families.
